Thin Edge for Moonee Valley
by
Moonee Valley and its players received some mentions in the Presentation Night edition of the official VTCA publication Leading Edge, but we weren't as prominent as we have been in past seasons.
Despite finishing in the top four of the North A1 division, none of our players received enough votes from opposing captains to be selected in the Division's Team of the Year.
In our Premiership year of 2009/10, four of our players made the Team of the Year.
Leading Edge was distributed at the VTCA Presentation night on April 20. President Charlie Walker and Assistant Treasurer Pat Taylor attended on Moonee Valley's behalf.
Moonee Valley's Nasir Ahmed got a mention in the article on Overseas Players and their contribution to clubs during the season.
The paragraph read: "Moonee Valley's Nasir Ahmed had a big reputation, and showed plenty after arriving after Christmas. He made 149 runs and took 14 wickets. I'm sure Moonee Valley hope they can get him for the majority of the season next year".
In the Ray Scriven Medal for the best player in North A1, Nasir Ahmed came in equal fifth with 18 votes, despite playing only half a season. He was 10 votes behind the winner.
Leading Edge shows Amit Chaudhary was sixth overall in the North A1 Division batting averages, with 259 runs @ 37.0. Trent Milne was 12th, with 257 First Eleven runs @ 28.56. Matt Thomas was 16th with 242 runs @ 26.89.
Amit Chaudhary was 12th in the North A1 bowling, with 21 wickets @ 15.19. Craig Pridham was 17th, with 27 wickets @ 18.14.
However, Fawad Ahmed of Hoppers Crossing CC, who played a couple of Twenty20 games with Moonee Valley in 2010/11 and was instrumental in recruiting Ihtisham Uddin for us, cleaned up - winning the Paxino Medal for Player os the Year in Senior Division and making the Senior Division Team of the Year for his 58 wickets @ 10.97.
