The Wright stuff

Moonee Valley’s young gun Peter Wright is making his mark on both the cricket and football field.

Peter, 15, who forced his way into our First Eleven this season, has been selected in both the Under 15 Victorian cricket team and the Under 15 Australian football team.

Pete has been a stellar talent coming through our juniors, and has quietly worked up his experience level in senior ranks.

Peter is shown here with Dad Norm after winning NWCA Under 14 awards last season.

He started off with a couple of seasons with his dad Norm in our Mighty Fighting Fourths, and played in our first Twenty20 team last season and got the nod of approval from our experienced hands.

As part of the Victorian Under 15 cricket team, Peter will be playing in the national championships in Hobart from February 25 to March 3.

A right-arm quick, he’s been selected as a bowler who can also be a punishing bat in the middle order.

Peter is also playing in the metro-wide Hatch Shield competition at the start of January, representing Coburg.

In mid-January he’s off to South Africa with the Australian Under 15 Aussie rules team, where he’s been selected as a ruckman.

Peter is taking it easy in rehab at the moment due to back niggles, so he’s not likely to take the field in our seniors now until after Christmas. But he should be right to play finals.

A wonderful young man, we at Moonee Valley Cricket Club can all be proud of his achievements.

Well done, Pete!
