Winter Comp 2025 - team Round 5

Round 5 is upon us already - we have a home game on Fairbairn Park No. 7 oval, playing Barkly Street Dragons.

Our team is: Maks Rahman (capt), Kabeer Jan (wk), Joe Adams, Ewan Campbell, Gurinder Singh Dhaliwal, Kaushik Kalam, Aksha Perera, Indika Perera, Sunny Singh, Lachlan Smith, Peter Smith, Ayush Tyagi.

Players need to be at the game at 11.15am to help set up the ground, and do some warm-ups and training.

An observation from the President:

An analysis of the games across our grade so far this season shows that teams have to score a total over 220 to win. The results show that the only teams to win this season with a score under 200 are teams which batted second chasing down a sub-par total.

The Winter Comp is one-day cricket, and teams have to score a minimum six runs an over - 210 runs - to have a chance.

We haven't achieved that yet this season. So players need to go in to bat with the positive mindset of trying to score a run off every ball - and turning the strike over. This takes the pressure off the lower order batsmen or the retired batsmen coming back in.

If players don't believe they can score a run a ball they should tell the captain so he can factor this in when determining the batting order.

Let's aim for a score in excess of 200 this Saturday and build the pressure on the opposition team.
