Welcome back Jonty!
by
Our very own Brendan "Jonty" Rhodes made an immediate impact on his flying return to Melbourne from Daysdale in southern NSW, where he had been riding out our coronavirus in Victoria and working on the family farm.
Back for the December 19/20 weekend - and hopefully a couple of weeks in the new year - Jonty pulled on the whites for the Fifths on Saturday and the Fourths on Sunday - for two wins.
Batting first, the Fifths were a bit light on in their score when he was last in with the total on 223. Jonty bunted three singles to give the strike to Liam "Sting" Farrell in a 44-run partnership which unfortunately left Sting stranded on 94.
Jonty then suited up for the Fourths on Sunday at the historic Brunswick Street Oval, making 21 at the top of the order as we passed the target of 100 four wickets down.
Jonty - it's always good to see you; even better when you're making a contribution for Moonee Valley out on the park.
