Our girls into the Grand Final
by
Moonee Valley's women's team has played themselves into a Grand Final.
In the first season back for women's cricket at Moonee Valley after a hiatus of 10 years, our girls proved too strong for Keilor in the semi final on March 7, overhauling Keilor's total of 5/107cc in just 14 overs for the loss of two wickets.
Now it's a date with Grand United at Sunshine on March 14, and we're keen to get a few supporters along to cheer on our girls.
In the Semi, Yasmin King retired on 23, while Sarah Gooden, Jane Raman, Sarah Ronayne and Audrey Brown all got into double figures. Tara Newman took two wickets.
Our strength is in our squad, with six of our bats averaging more than 20.
Moonee Valley's bowling is also shared around.
Our winning semi final team. L-R: Back - Sarah Gooden, coach Channa DeSilva, Tanya Intagliata, Jane Raman, Tara Newman, Audrey Brown, Sarah Ronayne and scorer/team manager David Baker. Front - Kelsie Armstrong, Yasmin King, Sandra Verschoor and Katherine Baker, with her sister Victoria.
