MOONEE VALLEY CRICKET –

SENIOR TRAINING

HAS STARTED

In line with advice from Cricket Victoria, Moonee Valley’s senior training commenced.
The advice, based on information from the State Government’s revised COVID-19 roadmap, is that organized training – nets, centre wicket and match simulation – can commence on Friday, October 22.
50Senior coach Glen Courts will be running a senior training session at Ormond Park this Friday from 5pm and is encouraging anyone who wants a hit to attend.
After this, senior training will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm, except for Melbourne Cup week (Wednesday and Thursday training).
Our VTCA, Mercantile and NWMCA seasons are still scheduled to start on the November 13/14 weekend.
We plan to hold a training session for our junior grades on Friday, October 29 – when hopefully we have more clarification in terms of immunization requirements – particularly as players in the Under 10 and Under 12 age groups are not eligible for vaccination. We hope to be able to distribute further junior advice later this week.
We have had no indication as yet as to when we will be given access to our clubrooms or even to toilet or change facilities, so players attending training should be wearing their training gear.
We will have QR code sign-in posters and hand sanitiser. There is still no advice on whether vaccination will be mandatory to participate in community cricket, but Cricket Victoria is strongly encouraging all players or participants to get the jabs in anticipation.
There is no limit on numbers at training, but social distancing requirements still apply and Cricket Victoria advises the State Government requests that only those who need to be at training (players and coaches) attend.
As part of our senior preparation, we have organized one (or two) practice matches at Ormond Park with Haig Fawkner on Saturday, November 6 – on the proviso that Victoria reaches its 80% vaccination target and the Government further eases restrictions.
Cricket Victoria and the Victorian Government have hinted at needing to be fully vaccinated to play cricket this year. They haven't made it compulsory yet, however, if you feel comfortable providing your information now it will allow us to move forward more quickly if vaccinations become compulsory.
There is also a possibility that anyone entering the pavilion will need to be vaccinated, whether you are a player or not.
If you feel comfortable, please complete the information in this form (click here), including uploading your vaccination certificate. Your information will be held securely with the club secretary, Michael Ozbun, until the time that it is needed. If it is not needed, the information will be destroyed.

Thank you in advance for your support and we are looking forward to playing cricket!
