Get well soon, Kev!

Moonee Valley Cricket Club wishes Kevin Gardiner a speedy recovery, after his health scare at the weekend.

Kevin suffered a heart attack during the Fourths match at Ormond Park on Sunday, and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

His friends and colleagues will be pleased to know he held the catch which he was going for at the time. Kevin hit his head on the ground while taking the catch, and went off the ground feeling unwell.

Thanks to Ian Wenlock for tending to Kevin while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

Kevin underwent immediate surgery in the Royal Melbourne Hospital to have a stent inserted in a blocked artery, and is expected to be in hospital for about five days.

Kevin has advised Fourths skipper Brett Curran that he came out of the operation at 4.30 – and apologised for not coming straight back to Ormond Park to bat if needed!

His team was able to cover his absence and won the match by 10 wickets.

Thanks also to Paul Baks and the junior coaching panel for making immediate arrangements to cover for the absence of our Junior Co-ordinator in coming weeks.

We’ve been advised that Kevin is accepting delivery of his mobile phone this afternoon, so we’re certain that he’ll stay in touch to ensure things run smoothly.

Get well soon, Kev!
