Stepping out in our snappy new shirts
Moonee Valley's new after-match and training shirts have been approved as playing tops for our First and Second Elevens.
The Club made application to the Victorian Turf Cricket Association to unable us to wear them in our two top grades, and they were quickly approved.
First Eleven Captain Mark Gauci models the new shirt (right), and senior player Murray Walker (below) also shows it off.
Our new Merchandising Manager, Steve Malone, was active in the off-season assessing and sourcing shirts that looked good as after-match or training wear, but which still enabled us to stick true to our Club colors of black and white.
Steve's recommendation, endorsed by the Committee, is a white shirt with black shoulders and wavy black side stripes, and we have had our Cricket Club and Moonee Valley Sporting Club logoes embroidered on the breasts.
Senior players were so impressed that they asked the Committee to consider an application to the VTCA. The Committee endorsed the request, and the application was lodged and approved.
Following on from the approval, the Victorian Women's Cricket Association approved them for match-day wear for our two women's teams as well.
Our Equipment Manager and Second Eleven Captain Daniel Phillips said the shirts added a touch of color to the traditional whites and would ensure that our Moonee Valley players stood out on the field.
The new shirts, in a range of sizes, are on sale at the clubrooms at $28.
Our traditional white shirts with our cricket logo are also on sale ($25 for seniors, $20 for junior sizes) as well as Club vests ($40), jumpers ($50), pants ($25 seniors/$20 juniors) and socks (3 pair for $12).
The Club also has black training shorts ($20), traditional hooped caps ($60), baseball caps ($15) and wide-brimmed hats ($12), We also have sew-on Club logoes for $5.
