Moonee Valley ventured to Donnybrook on Saturday, September 10 for two practice games, and we came away well pleased with the day.

Our First team beat Donnybrook while our Second team went down, but players from both sides had the chance for a good competitive hitout.

We thank Donnybrook president Noel Seipolt and his committee members and players for their hospitality, and we hope we can make a trip to their picturesque oval, with its two excellent hard-wicket pitches and outfields, an annual pre-season venture.

The Moonee Valley First team 3/130 def Donnybrook 99, with Sean and Peter O'Kane prominent with the bat.

Our Second team made 77 chasing Donnybrook's 5/128. Peter Smith with 21, and Pat Taylor and newcomer Ashley Krollig in double figures were the best of our bats, while the wickets were shared around.
