Coronavirus lockdown - cricket games cancelled
by
Greetings Moonee Valley Cricket Club members
We will await formal advice from our cricket associations, but:
With the Victorian Government's advice this afternoon of a tight Stage 4 lockdown for five days from midnight tonight, there is no prospect of cricket this weekend.
The Premier advised of the shutdown of sporting and outdoor activities other than playgrounds - which directly impacts on the playing of games. We should also expect the likelihood of the cancellation of this evening's junior games - even though they are scheduled before the lockdown commences.
The NWMCA has confirmed its advice on the cancellation of the Feburary 12 juniors - to give families the chance to prepare for the Stage 4 lockdown.
We would expect that the finals fixtured to be played this weekend - the Sevenths and Eighths - will be deemed to be draws, and the higher-placed teams go through to the next final. Unfortunately, the Moonee Valley teams were in the bottom half of the draw.
