Dean Jukic
June 2009 (stats to end of 08/09)
Captain of the Moonee Valley 2nd Eleven in 2001/02, Dean has played 100 games, scored 2100 runs and taken more than 90 wickets.
He was the 2000/01 2nd Eleven batting award winner, and as winner of both the Second Eleven batting and bowling awards in 2005/06 was named one of our five Wisden Cricketers of the Year. He won the Seconds bowling again in 2008/09.
Dean's citation as Wisden Cricketer of the Year 2005/06 read:
Dean Jukic
"Deano’s achievement of winning both the batting and bowling awards for the Seconds was an emphatic statement of the impact of his season. He also won the batting award in 2000/01. Dean came agonisingly close to his second Moonee Valley century, with 94 against Aberfeldie Park in Round 3. A season yielding 274 runs @ 24.9 and 15 wickets @ 10.9 is a good result in anyone’s language. His 5/2 in the first innings against Old Mentonians came on a day he was almost unplayable, and Dean is always dangerous with the ball. His season’s haul took him past 50 wickets and 1500 runs for Moonee Valley, and next season should also see Dean become one of only 33 players to have reached 100 games with our club. A stalwart around the club with his handyman skills, Dean is a fitting member of Moonee Valley’s Five Wisden Cricketers of the Year."
