XmasTreeOur Christmas Party and big Raffle: Saturday, December XmasElf17
We're holding our family Christmas Party and drawing our big Raffle at the Ormond Park pavilion on Saturday, December 17, and urge all players, family and supporters to attend.

It's one of our major fundraisers for the year, and it's great fun as well.

We will have music, a spit roast and salads meal and full bar service, plus the drawing of our major raffle - with the first prize of $500 cash. To see the Flier with all the details, click HERE.

Danny Terzini is in the process of distributing the raffle tickets to all players, and we need to have them back promptly. Anyone wanting more tickets or more information should ring Danny on 0407 341 477 or Committee member Tien Ha on 0413 681 727.

Entry to the event is $30 for adults, $15 for those under 18 and just $10 for kids under 15. You save $5 if you pre-purchase your entry ticket from a member of the committee before December 15, and a further $10 if you sell your full book of 25 raffle tickets. Sell two books - and it's free entry for one adult.

*Special tips from a special cricketer: L-R Matt Hogg with sons Archie and Charlie, with former Test bowler Jim Higgs.
Former Australian leg spinner Jim Higgs took Under 14 training at Moonee Valley on December 1, and our young players took away a lot of excellent advice to put into practice.

Jim came to visit us courtesy of Matt Hogg, from our Under 14 coaching panel, and we appreciate the time and effort.

Jim Higgs is shown here with Matt Hogg and his two sons, who play at Moonee Valley - Archie (left) and Charlie.

*Bendigo Bank's Moonee Ponds manager, Sandra Dessmann, presents the sponsorship cheque to Vice President Simon Thornton (left) and First Eleven captain Mark Gauci.iWe're all go with the Bendigo
Moonee Valley Cricket Club was pleased to host a visit from our sponsor, Bendigo Bank, when Moonee Ponds branch manager Sandra Dessmann called down to the clubrooms for Thursday training on November 24.
Coach Vic Hodge called the players into the clubrooms and thanked Sandra for the backingfrom Bendigo Bank, and reminded the players how important it is to have the support of local companies and institutions.
Sandra - and Club president Charlie Walker - both stated the importance of developing a long-term relationship to benefit both.
Charlie spoke of his own connection with Bendigo Bank - both professionally and as a customer - and endorsed Vic's call on our members to support the Bendigo.

*Moonee Valley Cricket Club's 40th anniversary celebration - don't miss it!***Moonee Valley CC 40th anniversary celebration: January 28
Moonee Valley Cricket Club is holding a gala function to celebrate our 40th anniversary on Saturday, January 28. It's a dress-up affair for current and past players, partners and supporters, and is being held at Happy Receptions in Union Rd, Ascot Vale.
It also gives us a chance to celebrate the achievement of Darren "Spud" Nagle, Life Member and long-serving past president, who this season became our first player to reach 300 games.
***For more information on the event, go to the "40th anniversary & past players" drop-down tag on the black line menu at the top of this page.

Darren Nagle runs through an avenue of honor created by team-mates for his 300th game.A day to remember for Spud's 300th game
Moonee Valley Cricket Club legend Darren "Spud" Nagle was given a guard of honor when he ran on to the ground to play his 300th game - and didn't let us down when he unleashed a Man of the Match performance.

Past and present players, family, supporters and admirers were all on hand for the October 30 Sunday game, which fittingly was held at Moonee Valley's home ground Ormond Park.

Above: Spud runs through a guard of honor onto the ground - with the first two players on the left being
long-time mate Ian Denny and fellow opening bat and Avondale Heights recruit Dean Lawson - and on the
left being fellow Life Member John Talone and his son Luke.

Spud shared the achievement off-field with a large group of admirers - and his onfield teammates in our Fourth Eleven included fellow life members John Talone and Ian Denny.

He really is a legend: Spud with his banner.Spud is the first Moonee Valley player to reach the exalted 300-game mark - while Ian is now on 284 and John on 256.

Spud ran through a guard of honor of his Fourth Eleven teammates and current and past players, and the clubrooms were decorated with a big banner put together by the Talone family.

Left: Spud Nagle has a tea-break rest in front of the Talone family banner acknowledging his role as a Club legend. He's ready to go out and open the batting - on his way to an undefeated 40.
