Valley contingent wins at Willowfest

VALLEY CONTINGENT CLEANS UP AT WILLOWFEST
A team comprising five Moonee Valley Cricket Club players has cleaned up at the annual Mildura Willowfest cricket titles after Christmas.
Playing under the banner of O’Malleys Panthers, the team won the Cup grade of the competition. And our player Arosha Perera was judged player of the tournament.
The Mildura Willowfest Australian Cricket Club Championships are held annually in late December. Cricket teams from around the country view for the largest prizemoney for any carnival of this type in Australia.
The Moonee Valley contingent comprised our senior coach Vikash Chand, assistant coach Paresh Rathod, Under 16s player Joe Carroll, Arosha Perera and Vivek Rajababu.

Arosha – our Sri Lankan import in his second season at Moonee Valley – was also selected in the Willowfest team of the tournament. He scored 196 runs, with a top score of 86.
O’Malleys Panthers picked up $3000 as the prize for winning the top division – the third year in a row in which the team has taken out the honor.
Teams compete in three one-day 50-over games and two 30-over games over the four days of the carnival. 10/1/07
