Sixths v Sevenths - annual grudge match

This Sunday sees the annual grudge match between the players who've
represented our one-day teams, and it's one of the fundraisers for our
junior cricket section.

The match started off three seasons ago when the Moonee Valley Cricket Club
re-started the Fifths, and players who represented the one-day side that
season played off against each other.

Last season, when we expanded to two one-day sides, each of the teams played
off.

And now, with the Sixths and Sevenths flying the one-day banner in 2005/06,
we've got the grudge game going again on Sunday, March 19.

Anyone who has represented either side this season - either for one match or
the whole of the year - is eligible to play.

The $10 entry fee for spectators and players gets us a barbecue lunch or
afternoon tea, and the bar will be open. There will also be a range of bets
that punters can have on the outcome or the efforts of individual players.

The match is on the synthetic pitch at Ormond Park, and the proceedings
start at midday.

Anyone who wants to play should phone Charlie Walker on 0409 237 543 so that
we can plan the composition of the sides.

We expect that it will make several hundred dollars for the junior budget,
so please come along and show your support to the players.

Some of our young players who've graced the one-day sides this season have
big careers in front of them - and some of the older players have a track
record they'd rather forget.
