Plenty to cheer about at our Valley Christmas party
PLENTY TO CHEER ABOUT AT OUR VALLEY CHRISTMAS PARTY
The Moonee Valley Thirds put on a great show as the main entertainment for our 2013 Christmas Party.
We didn't win, but an excellent late innings effort ensured that our opponents, Reds, couldn'g get us all out, and as a result we took a point away from the game.
It also happened to be Bede Gannon's 100th senior game. Bad luck we couldn't salute your milestone with a victory, Bede, but it was still a worthy contribution to a career which is still young.
Senior and junior players, parents, family and supporters gathered for the Christmas party, in the clubrooms on Sunday, December 22.
We must have been 'cricketed out', because we struggled to find interest in the intraclub Twenty20 game we had planned for the adjacent oval.
Many thanks to Life Member Danny Terzini for his tireless efforts in organising our big raffle and booking and collecting most of the food.
Thanks also to Mick Cumbo for cooking the wood-fired barbecue, to Pat and Jessie Taylor for running the canteen, and to Simon Thornton and his group of helpers for staffing the bar.
It was also a big weekend for team success, with all of the six senior teams competing, other than the Thirds, recording wins. And the Fifths won their last pre-Christmas match the previous Sunday!
To top it off, the Under 16s, Under 14s and both Under 12 teams also brought up victories.
This leaves us all in a positive frame of mind to start the second half of the season.
Shown above are Moonee Valley parents L-R: Doug Cumming (a current player and parent of Jack), Alan Thomas (past player and parent of current
seniors/former juniors Matt and Ben), Sandra Thomas and Adele Walker (past player and parent of current seniors/former juniors Murray and Nigel).
