Our first-ever Under 18s team - and their first win

Our Under 18s hit the track - and win

With our growth in player numbers and teams, Moonee Valley Cricket Club made the decision for the 2005/06 season to run a team consisting mainly on 18-and-under players in the C Matting grade, alongside our usual Fourth Eleven.

We grade the two teams as equal - hence they're called Moonee Valley White(traditional C Mats team) and Moonee Valley Black (youth team).

The Blacks had their first match on October 8 - and beat RMIT, who had beaten Moonee Valley White the week before.

Club stalwarts Kevin Gardner (captain) and Phill King are in charge of Moonee Valley Blacks, to provide a bit of stability and support to the team - which is the future of Moonee Valley. The players eligible for selection are either recent graduates of our junior program, or young men who are still in the Under 16s of a Saturday morning.

Pictured here is the historic winning team - L-R: Chris Stafford (4 wickets), Liam Brown, James Rawlinson (34 runs), Chris O'Haire, Nick Kritharidis, Seamus Fenaughty (3 wickets), Jesse Nankivell-Sandor, Phill King, John O'Brien and Kevin Gardiner, with Jake Ferrier at the front.
