APPLICATIONS CALLED FOR CAPTAINS

Moonee Valley Cricket Club is calling for applications for captains for its senior teams for season 2010/11.

Mark Gauci was reappointed captain after an advertising and interview process in July, so that he could work with coach Lou Raffaele to prepare the pre-season.

We are now seeking captains for the other teams we have entered for this season – men’s Seconds through to Tenths, and a women’s team.

We are also seeking applications for the role of Chairman of Selectors.

The teams and grades for captains are:

Seconds – VTCA turf North Division 2.

Thirds – MMVCA turf with Sunday home games – either B Turf or C Turf, pending a decision on the competition structure.

Fourths – NWCA two-day matting with Sunday home games.

Fifths – MMVCA turf with Sunday home games – either C Turf or D Turf, pending a decision on the competition structure.

Sixths – MMVCA two-day matting, Saturday home games.

Sevenths – MMVCA one-day matting, Saturday home games.

Eighths – MMVCA one-day matting, Saturday home games.

Ninths – NWCA one-day matting, Saturday or Sunday home games.

Tenths – NWCA one-day matting, Sunday home games.

Women’s Team – VWCA one-day matting, Sunday home games.

Captains are expected to organise their teams, attend and contribute to selection each week, ensure that players selected are appropriately registered and eligible, and ensure all paperwork and reporting is done in accordance with Association and Club requirements.

Under legislation, captains are also required to have a Working With Children Check.

People interested in any of the roles should not hesitate to discuss their interest with any committee member, with Senior Coach Lou Raffaele or with First Eleven captain Mark Gauci.

Applications must be sent to our Club email address, mooneev@club.cricketvictoria.com.au and close on September 5.

Anyone wanting more detail can phone President Charlie Walker on 0409 237 543.

The Chairman of Selectors can be a person with experience at any level of the Club, but ideally should have a playing background and the capacity to work logically through selection issues with the captains and the Selection Committee.

They would also need some flexibility on Fridays and Saturday mornings if teams have to be juggled due to late non-availability or injury.
