Gauch is no slouch when it comes to captain

We're pleased to announce the reappointment of Mark Gauci as captain of the Moonee Valley Cricket Club First Eleven for the 2011/12 season.

Mark, who first assumed the role of Firsts captain in the 2005/06 season, has led the team with distinction ever since.

Club President Charlie Walker said the Committee endorsed Mark's leadership and his influential role around the Club.

Mark captained our ground-breaking First Eleven premiership team in 2009/10 and has led from the front throughout his time as captain.

He was also selected as captain of the Moonee Valley Cricket Club Wisden Team of the Year for 2010/11.

With the appointments of Vic Hodge as coach and now Mark as captain, things are falling in to place in the lead-up to the coming season.

A  sub-committee of the Committee, in conjunction has been working on recruitment and retention of players, and we expect to be able to make further announcements shortly upon confirmation.

We expect to advertise for captains of the other teams in early August.
