Valley support for Breast Cancer day

Moonee Valley’s First and Second Elevens will be playing their matches with pink balls on January 16 to demonstrate our support for breast cancer initiatives.

The Victorian Turf Cricket Association has designated the one-day round as the Platypus Pink Ball Round, and the match balls have been colored with the shade now seen to symbolise breast cancer awareness.

Moonee Valley president Charlie Walker said the Club fully endorsed the Pink Ball Round.

“Breast cancer and cricket are closely associated as a result of the death of Jane McGrath, who was the wife of Australian fast bowling great Glenn McGrath,” he said.

“Breast cancer is an issue of significant concern to women.

“Through the creation of our women’s teams over the past three seasons, Moonee Valley Cricket Club has demonstrated our own commitment to women’s sport, wellbeing and healthy lifestyles.

“The Pink Ball Round gives us the opportunity to publicly show this.”
