100 wickets to Steven Ball & Murray Walker

Steven Ball and Murray Walker both brought up their 100-wicket milestones on the November 14/15 weekend - joining an elite group of just 42 players to have achieved that feat for Moonee Valley.

Steven is also fast approaching the "Triple Crown" milestone of 100 games, 100 wickets and 1000 runs. Another season will get him to the 100-game milestone, and become the 21st player to bring up the treble.

WalkerMurrayNewShirtSept08 220pixSteven has been a revelation since joining Moonee Valley when we returned to one-day cricket in 2003/04 with the formation of the Fifths, and has won batting, bowling and fielding awards in that time. He was one of Moonee Valley's five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2008/09.

Murray Walker (right) was one of our inaugural players when we started our junior program in 1996, and is the second player to come through our juniors and take 100 senior wickets - after Jesse Felle.

He's now in a race with Matt Thomas and Tim Fisher to become the first player through our junior program to reach the 100-game milestone.

Dean Jukic also reached the 100-wicket milestone this year, in our Sixths in Round 2, while Mark Cini reached the 150-wicket milestone with his five-wicket haul in the Fifths in Round 1.

Peter Smith reached 150 wickets with a five-for in the Fifths in Round 2.

Life Member and past President Darren "Spud" Nagle became just the third Moonee Valley player to take 400 wickets when he took three in the Ninths on October 17, when the top grades were washed out.
